This weekend I finally made something I’ve wanted to make for years – 1930s lounging (or beach) pajamas! The pattern I used was Harlow, a new free pattern from Gertie and Charm Patterns. I totally stashbusted for this – the yellow fabric is left over japanese rayon crepe from another outfit. The trousers are made from some rayon challis I had bought online for a dress but it was much too thin. Luckily it was perfect for these drapey trousers! Based on the size chart I was a 12D top, and 14 pants. I think if I made it again I would either make a 10D top or 12C, and grade to a 14 on the hips. The 14 trousers fit beautifully. I didn’t have the right colour green frog buttons for the top – but luckily had these vintage buttons which work just as well. The pattern came together quickly and easily – my only tip is easing on the neckline bias can be fiddly. I ended up running a gather stitch around the neck edge and easing the fabric to the bias that way. It made it so much easier. Overall – I think these are lovely! I […]
