To raise and lower the tripod simply loosen the set screws on the legs. The set screws all have a nice rubber washer to soften it a bit when it is tightened. The scope does easily remove from the stand using the set screw at the top of the tripod making quite a compact piece! Great reminder of our history! Makes such a great accent piece!
