Big clamps aren’t often needed, but when they’re called for, there’s really no substitute. And buying a pair of the same size F-style clamps you see here will set you back on the money you’re saving for that new power tool. This low-cost alternative is a win-win in my book. It’s always fun to do a project that integrates hardware that’s out of the norm (barrel screws and a big ol’ Acme threaded rod). Plus, you can overcome some of the weak-points of store-bought clamp designs.
