It is modelled after the Marvel Comics character Black Panther, with its name derived from the mantra, "Wakanda Forever" that has been popularized by the character's depiction in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise, where T'Challa was portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman.
