A robust pricket candlestick having a drip pan with crenellated edge; the lower section featuring four clusters of five small piercings on a tapered turned shaft with conforming piercings near the base of the shaft, supported by three cast seated lion figures. This is a typical Gothic pricket candlestick of a substantial early form. The decorative piercings are associated with these early interesting models. The rarely encountered lion supports [feet] make this candlestick very special. This Gothic pricket candlestick is related to Figure 15 in Old Domestic Base-Metal Candlesticks by Ronald F. Michaelis, published in 1978 by Antique Collectors' Club.
