Rubber Plant Tineke, scientifically known as Ficus Elastica Tineke, is a newer variety of the common Burgundy Rubber Plant. Belonging to the Fig family, Moraceae, it was used for its latex sap to make rubber before synthetics were made available. Rubber plants make excellent houseplants, as they can tolerate low light and help clean the indoor air from pollutants. Its care is similar to that of the Burgundy Rubber Tree, however, its unique tri-coloured variegation requires brighter light conditions to keep the colours strong and defined.
