The Core Solo line of processors was introduced in January 2006. A year later, on August 7, 2007, the Core Solo and Duo processors were discontinued in favor of Core 2 Solo and Core 2 Duo respectively. On July 27, 2006, the Core 2 line of processors was launched. Because of this, a new processor named "Core 2 Solo" was released, which eventually replaced the original Core Solo processor in 2007.
