Description

In a must-win game to extend the hockey team’s season, the Braves were unable to best Culver B early Saturday morning. The first period saw back-and-forth action from both teams with neither able to find the scoring column. In the second period, Culver went up 1-0 using a 5 on 3 power play advantage. With 9 minutes left in the game, senior Charlie Kersey sent one past the Culver goalie, assisted by Oscar Sizemore, to bring it even. Seconds later, Culver would retake the lead on an unlucky play when a pass to the middle, from behind the net, deflected off a Brebeuf defender and into the top corner. The Braves kept battling but were unable to find the equalizer. The final was 1-2. Junior goaltender Jack Rielage had 29 shots on goal. The Braves conclude a season that saw them hoist the Hoosier League Commissioner Division Championship Cup for the second straight year, as well as travel to Las Vegas for an amazing hockey experience. All success and camaraderie can be attributed to the leadership and experience of our seven seniors: Cole, Dubois, Ethan Dubois, Will Gibson, Charlie Kersey, Kenji Murakami, Kerem Pegg, and Nate Ryan. We wish them all the best as they take on the next phase of their journey.
